Production is pacing the floor.  The shipment they’re waiting for has been delayed and it’s revised ETA was 40 minutes ago.  All eyes are on the logistics procurement team (or individual) to “fix it”.  Suddenly, they can’t get a hold of the carrier or broker that’s supposed to be moving the freight.  Perhaps it’s late at night and people have left the office.  Maybe the driver is tired of answering the phone with bad news, so they’re ghosting your calls.  Whatever the reason, no one has answers, while time and money are burning.

Any viable logistics company these days uses quite a bit of automation. In such a fast-paced environment, it would be crazy not to.  That said, automation has its weaknesses, and we choose not to automate in those areas.  Specifically, if something requires a human touch to improve or change the outcome, then we choose not to automate it.  We put people where it matters.

Results the right way
