Meet Kalon! Kalon has been with Soren for about 2 years and plays an important role as an Accounts Receivable Specialist on our team. Kalon is a perfect example of the Soren Core Value “Choose to be Be Proactive” because it takes a lot of internal drive to do her job well, and she is passionate about doing it efficiently and accurately. Office Manager Lexi says: “Kalon has been a great and welcome addition to the Soren fam! Her capacity to develop relationships with internal teams, partners, vendors and customers’ AP departments, as well as mitigate complex problems, is evidence of her success. Kalon has a natural ability to stay warm and positive in a role that frequently has discouraging challenges. The beneficial way she strengthens our culture has not gone unnoticed. With such impressive results in a short amount of time, we are eager to see what the future has in store with Kalon!” We are thrilled to have Kalon as part of the Soren Team and are proud to spotlight her this month!
Here are some fun facts about Kalon:
Tell us a little bit about your family…
My mother is a nurse, she recently remarried and is living her best life! My father is an operator for Chevron Chemical and he’s living his best life on the beach in Crystal Beach! I have one sister who is a year younger than me, and she works for Walmart distribution. I have a pretty close relationship with all 3 of them. When we get together, we usually have lots of food around and play boardgames, card games, or darts to enjoy each other’s company because we all have very different work schedules.
Where is your favorite place to be?
My favorite place to be is on vacation at a beach destination
What is your favorite movie or TV show?
I love Master Chef because of the competitiveness, and I’m always amazed by the home cooks’ skills
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably something like grilled salmon with shrimp and a delicious garlic butter, creamy mashed potatoes, and a side salad
If you could meet anyone living or dead, who would it be?
Gordon Ramsay in a cooking class taught by him, ideally
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
A friend, a lighter and a knife
People would be surprised if they knew…
I’m on my seventh car, averaging a new car every 1.4 years since I’ve had my driver’s license. I’m pretty familiar with the car buying process and somehow I have really good insurances rates haha!

What brought you to Soren?
I actually got lucky and was found by a recruiter at Soren on LinkedIn but the opportunity for growth and great company culture that was conveyed to me during the interview process is what brought me to Soren.
How is Soren different than other companies you’ve worked for?
We’re always winning, and that’s great to see and feel. Every win is felt through the office and it is nice to be appreciated by management. Many jobs I’ve had were exhausting because of the lack of appreciation.
Which Soren core value means the most to you and why?
Embrace The Journey! I think it’s very important to take in where you are, what lessons you can learn and note the good things during every journey. I love that we focus on that here at Soren.
Do you have any advice for new or potential Soren employees?
Be open-minded and ready to learn because Soren will teach you a lot, especially about the logistics industry. You’re given all the tools to succeed if you have a positive mindset and take what they teach you and apply it. More importantly, have fun!
